Completing a root canal procedure typically requires two visits to the dentist. At your first visit, your dentist will remove all infected tissue from the tooth and secure it with a temporary filling. The second visit involves removing that transitory filling and replacing it with one that is permanent in nature. If necessary, we may also recommend protecting the compromised tooth by placing a crown over it.
The aim of the treatment is to completely get rid of the infection from the tooth. As this process can be complex, it will typically require two or more visits with a dentist for successful completion.
To ensure that your teeth remain healthy and strong, it is important to take care of them after the treatment area has healed. Brushing, flossing regularly, eating nutritious foods, and visiting the dentist consistently are all essential steps in this process.
